Soap Box Derby
Car Specifications:
1. No engines or motors
2. No nails allowed
3. Must be made of wood construction
4. Length - 84 inches or less
5. Width - no wider than 42 inches
6. Wheels - 12 inches or less, heavy duty or metal rims.
7. Steering king pin must be ∏ inch - grade 5 bolt or grade 8.
8. Must have steering blocks.
9. Must have some kind of brake.
10. Must have some kind of personal restraint.
11. Rider must wear a helmet.
12. Must have a foot holder (so feet can’t fall to the ground)
13. Must have 4 wheels.
14. Must have tow hook on front and rear.
NOTE: DECISION OF THE JUDGES IS FINAL!
Registration fee is $10 per entry. Races will be conducted on Friday - June 11, 2010 at the west parking lot of Ottawa Township High School, East Main Street in Ottawa, commencing at 10 a.m. Trophies will be awarded to winners. Santa’s Surprise Workshop December 2009
The Ottawa Scouting Museum invites boys and girls to participate in a multigenerational event to be held at the museum on Saturday, December 12, 2009.
At this event, youth ages 4 to 17 will have the opportunity to make a quality Christmas gift suitable for mom or dad at a minimal cost of $6.00 per participant. Because the gift will be for mom or dad, an adult other than a parent should accompany younger children aged 4-9. (This could be gramma, grampa, an aunt, uncle, friend, etc.) These sessions are anticipated to take an hour and a half to two hours and will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last session to start at 3 p.m.).

The Ottawa Scouting Museum will be conducting a Scout Homecoming in honor of Ottawan W. D. Boyce, the founder of the Boy Scouts of America, with a variety of activities suitable for everyone!
Here are some of the confirmed activities:
Passbook - Youth participants will receive a “Scout Homecoming 2010 Passbook.” The book will list all available activities. The book will be validated at each activity. Certain activities will be “required” and others will be “elective.” The youth should bring the completed passbook to a specified location and receive their special “prize”.
Camping - at a variety of locations - first come first served, if they are all full, you will have to find your own camping area. There are several fine hotels/motels in Ottawa as well who would welcome

Games Area - indoor and outdoor!
Girl Scout Activity Area
